Lightning protection

Does The portable cabins which serve as offices, require lightning protection.

RE: Lightning protection

It depends. What is the lightning hazard risk?

RE: Lightning protection

Doubt it due to the height of them. As jghrist says check NFPA 780, should be a risk hazard assesment based on building height, thunder days of location, whether there is surge protection installed protecting the main incomer.

Being in Australia, I'm unaware the comparision between NFPA 780 and AS 1760.

My hunch is that it won't require it.

RE: Lightning protection

zaza,
That would be determined by your local codes, building regulations and insurance requirements. You didn't say your location, so it will be hard for us to provide any more detail. Codes such as NFPA 780 (or whatever applies in your area) can help you assess the risk and tell you how to do it once you determine that it is required.
