GPR Requirements

We do a lot of renovation work. This involves a lot of modifications to existing buildings therefore we do a lot of coring and openings in concrete reinforced slabs. We use both GPR scans and X-rays based on conditions at the site, etc.

One building management company LOVES x-rays. This is annoying because GPR is usually sufficient. This company is asking us to see if there is any GPR specs/requirements that they can specify when requiring contractors to scan the slab.

I've searched the internet, but can't find any information. Does anyone know of any industry standard for power of machine, clarity, software, etc.

Any help is appreciated!

RE: GPR Requirements

RCraine,

Being in Australia I always specify a company because they do a great job "scanning" the slab and providing both a report and markings on-site where the reinforcement is located.

This is a report I received a few weeks ago regarding the use of ground penetrating radars. It may help you out.

There is a good person in Australia who supplies this equipment so it may be worth trying to send them an e-mail.
