Welding Calculator

Hi All,

Can some one please advise which are the best welding calculators available? I have an excel sheet welding calculator, but it is quite cumbersome. I am looking for some more user friendly calculator. Any recommendations please?

Thanks.

DVD, I am looking for welding calculators which can calculate the stresses developed due to the loads on the welds....any help would be appreciated...

Thanks,

SubseaDeep:
User friendly or most expeditious or least effort, without some fundamental knowledge base, may be really dangerous, particularly as relates to deep sea issues.  We are learning this lesson, all over again, these days.

The James F. Lincoln Arc Welding Foundation (Lincoln Electric) has some very good books on the subjects of Welding and Weld Design, and they are very reasonably priced too.  Maybe you should avail yourself of some of these books, rather than another computer program or spread sheet.  And, keep in mind that the design of the welds is not all that complicated, if you know the basics.  It's our damn complex designs, shapes and joint configurations, which lead to multi-axial stress conditions, and highly restrained or hard spots, on which the welds are needed to work, which muck up the works.

Hi All,

Thanks all for your inputs. Dhengr, I agree with your comments. I normally tend to keep simple weld designs/geometry. But looking at past equipment which were designed by previous engineers, it seems that the welding design is overdone.
