four wire connection in delta system

four wire connection in delta system

four wire connection in delta system

(OP)
Hi all,

Hi everyone,
I have voltage regulating transformer, 27.6kV/27.6Kv, Delta/ star.

This transformer need to connect in 4 wire system both sides (Supply and load)

I can connect 4 wire to star side of transformer. But in delta side of transformer where I should connect neutral wire?

Thanks all in advance for the reply

RE: four wire connection in delta system

There's no neutral connection on the delta.  Even though the voltages are the same, the secondary side is electrically separate from the primary.  This is assuming this is a two-winding transformer.

You may wish to ground the primary side neutral, depending on your system configuration and grounding methods.

Thank you very much for the clue. In which condition we can ground the primary side neutral ? Is there any related links, useful books?

In my case, the Transformer is in substation and has mesh earthing. The primary side is coming from a transformer ( sytar/star with neutral ground) located in a 10 km far substation.

RE: four wire connection in delta system

That will depend on the type of system (utility, industrial) and the grounding technique being used.

In the US, for a typical utility distribution feeder the neutral is grounded at just about every opportunity.  But there are approaches where the neutral is only grounded at the source.
