SW 2007 had a feature under Tools menu that was called "Check sketch for feature usage".  This feature is now not available in SW2010?  Why?  We use this every day and would like to have this in SW2010, is it possible or is it called something else in 2010?

Help please

Joe

RE: Feature

Its there in 2010, go to Tools>Sketch Tools>Check Sketch for Feature (when you have a sketch open).

I did, but I don't see it.  Was my install not done properly?

RE: Feature

See if it is just not showing in Tools>Sketch Tools>Customize Menu.

I'm just not seeing it.  I have it on my SW2007 machine, but
2010 nothing.  What is the default shortcut key if it had one?

RE: Feature

Try:

Tools/Customise

then in the pop out dialogue box:

Menus, Tools, Align, and make sure 'Check Sketch for Feature' is "added in".

The above is not there, how do you add to the customize menu
that you stated.

RE: Feature

Right click in any toolbar
Select Customize
Select Options tab
Select both Show All options

FreddyB, I know where the function is suppose to be, but it is not there.  How do I get this function to show, so that I can use it.

CorBlimeyLimey, tried that already and still no function.  What is my next option to get this to work.

RE: Feature

Try resetting the registry.

Resetting the registry?  Didn't know you can reset your registry.  Is there a procedure for this?  Does SW have this on their forum or tech support page?

RE: Feature

(OP)
I'll try a repair install, the wierd thing about this is I'm installing on a new machine, windows 7 and SW 2010 was a first time install on this machine.  Why would I have to do a repair on a new machine a fresh install of SW 2010 don't get it and why is "check sketch for feature usage" not an option on this machine.

Thanks

RE: Feature

If you are not familiar with the registry, then (as Eltron suggested) try a repair from the SW DVD first.

To reset the registry;
Close all SolidWorks products
Select Start
Select Run
Type regedit and hit OK
Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Expand Software
Rename SolidWorks to SolidWorks OLD. The registry key will be recreated upon opening SolidWorks.
Close the registry
Open SolidWorks and try again

NOTE: Resetting the registry is like re-installing SW and will remove any customization of toolbars, settings, etc, you may have made.

If that works, the SolidWorks OLD key can be deleted.
If it doesn't a complete and clean uninstall/reinstall may have to be made.

Just tried resetting registry, and no difference.

WTF, I guess I'll uninstall and reinstall, see where this takes me.

Thanks guys

RE: Feature

joek,

You had not mentioned before that this was a new install on a new machine. Can you post the computer specs?

Have you involved your VAR in this problem?
