Crane Heat Shield Material
Crane Heat Shield Material
(OP)
Hi All,
What grade of steel would be appropriate for use in a high heat condition like this? I am told that for short periods the temperature can reach 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit. For the chain links that will be supporting the shield I have a catalog which gives reductions in the working load of the chain and it looks like the reductions can be significant. I was initially hoping to use A36 plate material but now I am wondering if that is going to be appropriate for this application. I would appreciate any input.
Thanks.
