Smartscope Flatness

Smartscope Flatness

(OP)
First, I am a Smartscope expert level programmer, and secondly, I wanted to answer a question that was ask about Flatness using a Smartscope system.
The question was ask; My supplier used a Smartscope to measure flatness ect...
I just want to say, that if you are using a Smartscope to measure in the Z plane I strongly suggest you use the laser vs. the visual and touch probe. Why? well, you can use the visual but it must be at High magnification, and the lighting set at 78% or you may get a variation that effects your SPC. Secondly, you may not want to use a touch probe as it may deflect the part causing variation. Thee best way to measure flatness is with the laser. The first three points taken will create a plane, and the fourth point will measure the flatness to the plane created. The more points you take the more accurate your flatness results will be.
