Rock Bolt Replacement

Rock Bolt Replacement

Rock Bolt Replacement

(OP)
Hello,
I am in Glasgow UK and am looking to replace some 3ft long rockbolts securing a 110T Cranes Runway beam in an underground cavern.
The Rock bolts are almost 50years old and a number are failing their tensile testing for crane certification.
I anticipate coring 100mm-150mm around each failed bolt for extraction and replacement.
The project may expand to include replacment of the 15ft long rockbolts which secure the cavern itself.
Can anyone point me in the direction of some further reading on rockbolt replacment? Does anyone know any specialist contractors who partake in this sort of work?
I think the main cavern wall rock bolts may have been prestressed, though there is very little record information available. Can anyone suggest how this should be managed during extraction.
let me know
Thanks
John

RE: Rock Bolt Replacement

For the 15 foot bolts, I would just leave them in place and install new bolts as required.

If possible I would do the same thing for the crane track.  I've never heard of intentionally removing a rock bolt.
