Biofilter design

Biofilter design

Biofilter design

(OP)
Hi!!!

I am designing a small (200 cfm) biofilter for the removal of the odour from the wastewater sump at our plant.

I am planing to use a mix of woodchips and compost as the filtering medium. Of particular interest is the pressure drop. I have gleened information from various sources and think I have it under control but would like some backup from someone with some experience at this small scale.

My initial design is 1m deep, 1.5m wide x 4m long. This should give a pressure drop of around 1/2 inch WC. Am I in the right ballpark??

RE: Biofilter design

hi carpetboy:
It seem too low at a first glance ifyou use woodchips and compost. Ther are some other tips I do not realize how you will deal with. Is tthere a water recirculation or sometring, will you use the filter as and absorbant only? if you calrify these it will be easier to realize tha project. my e- mail is mmo2001@arnet.com.ar if you want to consult anything more
