NX 6 Crosshatch boundary

NX 6 Crosshatch boundary

NX 6 Crosshatch boundary

I have a part where I need to define the crosshatch boundary manually.  The problem however is that I only need the crosshatch to cover a section of the part and there is not line to define that boundary.  I have tried to draw a line diagonal across the part but I am unable to select it when I try to define the boundary.  Thanks.

RE: NX 6 Crosshatch boundary

You have to make sure that all the curves, that make up the boundry, are on the same plane.

RE: NX 6 Crosshatch boundary

If I remember correctly, you have to expand the view and draw the curves there.

coski,
I tried to expand the view and draw in curves but when I do, all of my sketching tools aren't available anymore.

RE: NX 6 Crosshatch boundary

You could sketch the curve in Modeling, put it on it's own layer, then turn that layer on in the view just to get the crosshatching in.  In theory the curve will stay associative to the part when/if it's changed and the crosshatching will update, although I rarely have crosshatching update after I've modified the part.  I almost always have to reselect it.  Sometimes I have a 'junk' layer for stuff like this, or curves I've had to put in the model so I could create some dimensions in the drawing.

Mike,

That worked finally! never thought about doing something like that.  Thanks.

Cool!  Glad to help.

Basic curves still work.

RE: NX 6 Crosshatch boundary

In NX 6.0, just select the view of interest, press MB3 and select 'Active Sketch View'.  Now you can sketch in the view WITHOUT having to expand it first.
