I have a contractor who insists that he can construct a small dam wall with a scraper.  The specification calls for screening out material larger than 75mm - for obvious reasons.

The contractor insists that he can use a scraper to run out rocks bigger than 75mm diameter.

How feasible is this?

RE: embankment construction

I'd be rather surprised if he could.  How would he do that?

What do you mean by a "dam wall"?  I don't think I recognize that term.

RE: embankment construction

dgillette,
In some countries, they call the dam the "dam wall", and they call the impoundment the "dam".  I don't know where Robbo is located, but in Australia ponds, reservoirs, etc. are often called dams.

RE: embankment construction

If he also has a crew of laborers walking behind the scraper, picking rocks than he's good to go.

RE: embankment construction

If you were talking more like 150mm, then more feasible.  75mm is a bit small, and he would have to drop a very thin lift.

I am in Australia.  Let's call it a sludge lagoon to be more precise.

But this is about what we figured.  Thanks guys
