Polymer concrete mixes
Polymer concrete mixes
(OP)
I tried posting this in the concrete admixture forum, but it doesn't seem to get much traffic.
Current project includes construction of a large entry vestibule with frost depth spread footings, slightly larger than and encompassing an existing exterior slab with trench stoop type footings.
The existing slab will remain in place (contractor doesn't want to tear it out.) It is in good condition. A 2" topping is to be poured to match finished floor of the adjacent structure.I read the threads concerning bonded VS non-bonded overlays and I understand the concerns with cracks telegraphing through to the new slab.
I was considering using a polymer based concrete mix. Does anyone have a resource for info on polymer concrete mixes (not a manuf website) or experience with them?

RE: Polymer concrete mixes
Unfortunately you'll have to depend a lot on manufacturer's information. There has not been a lot of trial batch mix design for generic polymer additions, so you're dependent on the polymer manufacturer for guidance and expect properties.
My preference is Sika products. No reason other than I have experience with their products that goes back over 25 years. There are other good ones as well.
