Stresses in beam -- API

Stresses in beam -- API

(OP)
Hello,

I use FEMAP v10.1. I made a beam model but I can't get Von Mises Stresses or Shear Stresses in results.

I know it isn't possible to get directly shear and von Misses stresses in Femap.

Anybody has a FEMAP API to calculate Von Mises and Shear Stresses ? Could you help me please ?

Thank you for your attention,
Titeneliz

RE: Stresses in beam -- API

if you used BEAM elements, you don't get von Mises as an output option.  you can set stress calculation points on the shape (in the Propety definition) and this'll give you the combined normal stress.  shear stresses i think you have to do by hand calc (from shear forces and torsion creating shear flows).

if you modelled the beam using "caps and web" model then the web plate elements will give von mises stresses.
