No voltage from generator when neutral and ground connected together

No voltage from generator when neutral and ground connected together

(OP)
Hi everyone!

So I have problem with portable diesel generator.

Generator: 3 phase
AVR has one feeding winding , one sensing winding and outcome DC goes to rotor winding.

All are right when Neutral and Grounding are separate. When I grounded the neutral voltage disapears.

So what could be wrong?

RE: No voltage from generator when neutral and ground connected together

You may have a ground fault on one of the windings. Check for a voltage between neutral and ground with the neutral floating. Megger the windings and do a resistance check with a multi meter from any winding to ground with the neutral floating.

Check the AVR connections as well. Its possible that there's an internal jumper between ground and some other input/output that is incompatible with a grounded neutral.
