Reneable wnergy to grid

Reneable wnergy to grid

Hi Everyone,

I have interest in renewable energy and would like to know how below renewable enery connects to grid

1. Solar PV cells
2. Bio mass, biogas, biofuel
3. Wind
4. tidal

I believe solar PV cell produce DC power, then it converts to Ac by inverters and so on. And more related to the grid connection

I'll appreciate to all who explain me the connection in this fashion or can give me link.

Thanking you all.

RE: Reneable wnergy to grid

They connect with wires?

Ultimately they are all inverters, synchronous machines, or induction machines.  For all of these there is considerable literature regarding interconnection.

Perhaps a more specific question could produce a more specific answer.

Hi Davidbeach,

Thank you for the answer. Could you give me some guidelines in below.

1. Biogas, Biomass, Biofuel

All these produce heat which boils water and generate steam that runs synchronous machine ?

Please correct if I am wrong.

2. What is the reason for using Induction generator in Wind mill and not Sync. generator ?

Just because of difficulties to arrange DC supply in wind mill ? or other reason.

Thank you in advance.

RE: Reneable wnergy to grid

Induction machines are easier and more forgiving to control when driven by a variable source such as a wind turbine. Induction machines don't work well without a grid to stabalize the frequency and supply excitation.
Notwithstanding there are induction machines with a rectified output that is then inverted and fed to the grid. Some of these types are suitable for islanded use.
Still your question is almost as broad as;
"Tell me about cars and trucks. Are some transmissions automatic?"
