Efficiency lost in transformer by external EM field?
Efficiency lost in transformer by external EM field?
(OP)
I`m working in a system with a very reduced space. The electrical system is insulated by transformers with an efficiency close to 96%. I must find a location for an equipment that produce strong EM fields. The best location by space considerations is very close to transformers.
It's possible that transformers loss efficiency by presence of a transient external EM field? How could it affect the quality of signal downstream?

RE: Efficiency lost in transformer by external EM field?
Without knowing anything about the system, I would say Nema Problema.
Knowing more, I would perhaps say something else.

RE: Efficiency lost in transformer by external EM field?
thank you for your post. I'm not authorized to give full details about system.
The line insulated is 220V, 50hz, 20A max. The external magnetic field is also of AC, 50Hz, with a variation of 6.6Gauss between max and min calculated at the surface of transformer's magnetic circuit. Vector of external field is paralel to the axis of transformer's coils. It could be with fase 0º or 180º.
Thanks in advance for your help, if the data isn't enough, I understand, thanks again.
RE: Efficiency lost in transformer by external EM field?
6.6 gauss is 0.00066 tesla and normal leakage fields are sometimes as high as 0.01 tesla - or 100 gauss.
The transformer is usually a closed magnetic circuit and the internal field is not easily influenced by an external magnetic field.
The internal field goes as high as 1.2 - 1.6 tesla and an external 0.00066 tesla would not make any difference even if it worked directly on the internal field, which it does not.
