Format Visibility

(OP)
i have a prt file from a customer that has a format (titleblock). it is visible in the preview but when i open the file parts of the title block are not visible. the customer tells me to check the layers because the format is on layer 9. i have checked it and it is selectable. the drawing was created in nx4 and i am opening it in nx 6. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance.

RE: Format Visibility

Set 9 to be "Visible In View" in the drawing view.

thank you for your response. can you tell me how to do that.

i see the layer visible in view tab , but i don't see an option to add.

i see the layer settings tab, but i don't see the make visible in view option.

i apologize for the newbieness.

RE: Format Visibility

Format --> Visible In View --> (pick drawing view) --> OK --> click layer 9 --> visible --> ok

RE: Format Visibility

This is assuming that the format pattern is actually part of the file, or if not, that your variables know where to look to find and open the format pattern.

I asked the customer for the format file and he told me it was on layer 9 and to make sure it was turned on. I am from the pro/e family and we have the format file seperately.

Thank you

"Format --> Visible In View --> (pick drawing view) --> OK --> click layer 9 --> visible --> ok"

No effect.

RE: Format Visibility

I think it is likely that the format pattern is a separate file not being properly located by your NX settings.

RE: Format Visibility

Yes, if he used a 'Pattern' file for his format, it's a referenced file which is loaded when you open the Drawing.  If you do not have the 'Pattern' file, there will be nothing there.

RE: Format Visibility

And also make sure that you set the Environment Variable UGII_PATDIR = "Directory of Pattern Files" (Full Path)

where "Directory of Pattern Files" is the place where you need to place the pattern files, so that ug loads the pattern formats from this directory only.

For example,

UGII_PATDIR = M:\Standards\Patternfiles
