Anyone have a suggestion for a good reference or text on determining lateral forces on caissons and piles?
I am most interested in shears and bending moments due to soil pressures on caissons for power transmission poles and light poles.

RE: Papers/Reference for Caissons/piles

Lateral forces?

Or lateral force resistance?

JAE-
Excuse my sloppy terminology.
I am essentially looking for a good reference on the design of reinforced concrete caissons/piles.

RE: Papers/Reference for Caissons/piles

Lpile is relatively inexpensive software that does a nice job.

There is a Navy Design Manual (NAVFAC) 7.3 I think the number that has a little section on it.  not great, but gives answers that correlate reasonably well with Lpile.

RE: Papers/Reference for Caissons/piles

LPile is the program that geotechs typically use to give us shear and moment diagrams for us to design the reinforcing in caissons.  If you have a geotech on board, they should be able to give you this information.
