Safety Qualifications

(OP)
I started as an apprentice electrician in a large explosives and chemical company in South Africa, where I developed a love for the safety culture we were exposed to on a daily basis, eventually becoming an safety representative for the electrical departments. I later had the opportunity to go to Saudi Arabia and work for one of the world's largest EPC companies as a junior HSE supervisor, eventually working as a Project safety manager on a contract for Chevron.

Sorry for the long-winded background, but it explains why I am asking this question. Even though I have a degree in environmental engineering, I never did a comprehensive HSE certification to become a certified safety professional. I just had a lot of experience to call upon which made me effective as a HSE practioner. I would like to know what qualifications/courses would be the best to do to be a "certified" safety professional. I left the Saudi and construction safety 4 years ago and I'm desperate to get back into safety as a career. I am currently living in Europe and there are many options to choose from.

Safety really is "the thing" thing that I want to do for the rest of my life and I want to ensure that I will always have the option.

RE: Safety Qualifications

I know nothing about Europe - but surely there is a "Safety Engineers Society" or group or organization of some sort that you could query.

Get on Google and start looking and good luck.

RE: Safety Qualifications

The Certifed Safety Professional (CSP) is a well regarded certification in the US and internationally.
