I am designing a building that is located on a site with high liquefaction potential. From whatever is mentioned in ASCE 7-05 about liquefaction, I understand that this behavior of soil has the tendency to reduce the bearing capacity of soils during a seismic event. So then, how does liquefaction potential affect the lateral loads on the building? Does the site class as determined by the geotech, include the effect of liquefaction potential of soils, that no further adustment of the design seismic loads is needed? Please clarify. Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
