Hi all,
I'm designing a hill climb car and want to use metal bellows to hydraulically transmit the force and deflection of each wheel to another belows in central position.

A "warp" suspension system will optimize all wheel movements, google it for details if interested.

At a design load of 5 g's the stroke is 1.5" and the force is 1500 lbf. With an effective area of 4 in.squ. the max pressure peak is 375 psi.

I think I need 1,000,000 design cycles at half this pressure and stroke to make it in effect everlasting.

I can make the pressure external which overcomes the "squirm" pressure problem which is like column buckling.

The edge welded type seems to have the best extension/normal lenght ratio, but maybe I'm wrong.

I've contacted several manufacturers but it's in the "to hard" basket for them so I need to get close to the right answer and then just buy a standard product from them. I can then tig weld this onto the brackets etc.

What I cant find is a nomograph or design step document to help me work out what is possible. I'm hoping not to have to go to FEA to get a reasonable answer.

Can anyone help ?
