Tapered insulation / walking surface

Tapered insulation / walking surface

(OP)
Need ideas on designing a walking surface on a PVC membrane roof (3/4" plywood roof with tapered poly iso insulation, 1/8" slope). Must be capable of handling light foot traffic. THANKS, Keith

RE: Tapered insulation / walking surface

Too much traffic in a concentrated area will deform the isocyanurate insulation.  You need walkpads.  There are many of them out there...anything from pavers with insulation on the bottom side to something simple like "Yellow Spaghetti"(http://yellowspaghetti.com/), a free draining walkpad.

You can go top of the line with pedestal pavers;however, that's expensive.

For economy and practicality, I would use the yellow spaghetti walkpad and cover it with conventional concrete pavers, assuming this is not for a high wind zone application.
