Searching for a specific rubber

Searching for a specific rubber

(OP)
I have been searching for a specific type of rubber for the last 6 months. I am not sure what it is or what it is used for, for that matter. I do know that some say it is open cell and some say closed cell. The actual rubber feels really soft to the touch but if you were to run your fingers down it you would feel a grip to it. It isn't like a raised spiral grip it is more of a cushion not letting your finger slide on it. The material has fibres (sp?) and it is around 1mm thick. If anyone could help me in this search i would appreciate it, ALOT. If needed i can take some pictures of the actual piece i have or whatever else you would need to help me in the search.

Thanks

RE: Searching for a specific rubber

Dear Sir,

Some important questions to help you to solve this:
1) Were it is used?
2) It have contact with watre, oil, etc.?
3) What is its color?

RE: Searching for a specific rubber

sounds like a sponge rubber of some type.  a picture might help.  also, there are rubber compound testing companies out there where you can send your material to get tested.
