New Tech Motorcycle or BS

New Tech Motorcycle or BS

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

No engineers in the org chart.   Funny.

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

Recent history has been rife with failed or outright fraudulent new motorcycle company start-ups. Indian--at least 3 times, as well as Hesketh and Excelsior, both one shot deals. The only ones that are a going concerns, are Victory, by Polaris and the new Triumph.

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

To me, the electric bike/car is nothing more than a bubble.

Sure an electric motor is far more efficient than any gasoline engine, but most electric energy WILL be produced by coal plants that are not much more efficient than the gasoline engine itself.

What i'm i missing?

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

You are missing the non-rigid frame and the unorthodox (for a bike) suspension, which apply to the ICE-powered models too.

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

@SomptingGuy,

ok, maybe for this particular concept.

But that has nothing to do with the electric concept that is preaced on the front page.

My doubts remain about the glorified electric part.

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

The front suspension looks like it copies BMW's Paralever front end, although rather than hiding the arm like BMW does, they put it on display. But, the steering geometry looks like it has extremely excessive rake. What appears to be a parallel upper-and-lower trailing arm rear suspension shows what I would say is a lack of understanding about anti-squat forces that are associated with a normal trailing-swing-arm suspension. Maybe there is something in the design that we don't see in the illustrations - notably, I can't see a picture of the left side. BMW shaft-drive models use an upper link to compensate for the differing forces associated with the shaft drive, but it's not parallel to the main swing-arm.

I ain't buying into it.

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

the renderings are top notch though..

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

How comfortable?
Looks nice to CG geeks but that flat frame with what looks like a super jumbo nut just where the knee might rest.....

PS, I get very wary of web sites with lots of high grade Web Design and top end graphics but little else to show for it. I also get suspicious when they try to do too much... not just electric and fossil fuel electric hybrids but fancy frames, suspension and so on. The magician is trying to make you look where he wants you to look and not where the rabbit is being hidden.

I wouldn'thave thought a 1000cc turbo-diesel single cylinder would have been at home in a motor-cycle.

I notice that 'corrosion proof' connecting rods are used and that the gasoline fuel injection system is 'sequential' - on the two-cylinder versions, I presume.

The PDFs are fun to read too.  Technical terms such as "quite a bit" sing out.

I notice that the intake valve actually opens before the exhaust valve has completely closed.  They should apply for a patent for that.

Has anyone else read the Drivetrain PDF?  I just loved the bit on gear ratios.  I always thought vehicle speed was proportional to engine speed for a given gear ratio and no slippage.

I have printed many copies of various pages of the website and I shall be taking them home tonight to shred and then to fertilise my tomato plants. They need a feed.

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

The amount and quality of the 3D in the PDF's is unreal.

Baffling to me...

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

probably an arts school class project.

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

Did anyone see anything about prototypes having being built and tested? I didn't.
Nice organisation chart though and an a nice appeal for partners/investors.
I see Steorn are still there and offering equipment for sale.... not that I mean to draw any comparisons....

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

I want in on this deal.  Who can I send a check to?

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

At least no actual material was sacrificed dazed

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

Would the chief designer be wearing a tin foil hat... just wondering.

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

AviatorJim - send cheques to me and I promise to give you twice as much return as BS Bikes Ltd.

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

Only a couple of photos of the bike on the road - both small and so out of focus they can be almost any bike.

Maybe I'll get the T shirt instead.

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

It doesn't seem that anyone mentioned the horrid look of it, or is that just my taste? I agree also, where is or are the working models? The specs don't look like they're written by techs but by marketing and tech editors at best. Am I missing a link to or a video of a working Bike? A Diesel would be interesting to see in action, Hello?

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

You're not alone, naturalextraction.  Perhaps I had set my expectations too high after reading the earlier comments, but the rendering looks like C level student ID work.

Motorcycles, bicycles, and chairs...  seemingly every design student in the world has tried putting their stamp on one of those, and in most cases all three.  Tens of thousands of designs are out there.  Why pick an ugly one?

(OP)
But there's MORE!!

http://www.erikbrinkman.com/IDS-Research/Project_List.html

I especially like the 'ultralight aircraft' (scroll down about 2/3s the way) engineering terminology like;

"Three engines hooked together to make one"

It not only folds to fit a pick-up truck, but it creates an electrified anti-predator zone!

A true renaissance man, he 'creates' everything from shoes to bicycles, morphing motorcycles, to levitating trains, wheel chairs to plain language computer code!!

I wonder if this stuff isn't transmitted from the common room of a mental institution?

If you are 'sold' however, at the bottom of the page is a new style "investment" opportunity.

Good Luck!!

RE: New Tech Motorcycle or BS

I just see a futurist's wish-list.

The one wish he forgot to include; the ability to produce any of the above.
