gas relief valve in liquid service

gas relief valve in liquid service

gas relief valve in liquid service

What happens when a gas relief valve is installed in liquid service? How will the liquid affect the operation?

RE: gas relief valve in liquid service

It probably won't dump anywhere near the volume you think it will plush the possibility of flashing and cavitation.

I should probably add that the valve is an 81 series Anderson Greenwood with a -6 orifice set at 95 psi.

RE: gas relief valve in liquid service

Pressure releif valves, doesen't make any difference of the fluid pressure.
However, you must take care for how will the liquid affect surface of the valve?
Will it increase corrosion? It might be agressive to the sealings!

thanks for all he input...the media is liquid nitrogen

Be sure the valve rated for that temperature.
