Wind Turbine Generator - Loss & Uncertainty

Wind Turbine Generator - Loss & Uncertainty

Wind Turbine Generator - Loss & Uncertainty

(OP)
Sorry for crossposting, I was just wondering if anybody could help me out with a good source of reference or literature on the subject of Production losses and uncertainty calculations for a Wind Turbine Generator (600 kW)
Also, trying to find information on how to calculate P90 values (exceedence probability).
Tried creating a spreadsheet based on some online references but haven't been able to get anywhere.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Wind Turbine Generator - Loss & Uncertainty

Um, I managed to do vaguely similar for a high school physics report back in the mid 90's when the internet was new fangled and Google just a glimmer in a programmers eye.  I"m sure with a determined effort you can work it out.

Thank you metengr.

Are you implying I am lazy? JK smile

I am actually trying to understand the math behind the calculations. I got the theory already from some of the links you posted in fact.
Created the spreadsheet attached now trying to make sense of the numbers.

Nope, but perhaps green. wink

All kidding aside, I would suggest you contact GL - Garrad Hassan.

RE: Wind Turbine Generator - Loss & Uncertainty

In practice, Germany and the UK are getting between 8% and 23% of the rated power nationally for their several thousands of wind turbines.

That is, you need to buy five to six wind turbines (each mounted in a "good" sighting location by national utilities) to get the rated power of one wind turbine.

RE: Wind Turbine Generator - Loss & Uncertainty

I was looking into this a few years ago. The figure that seemed to be in use then was 15% which fits well with the 8% to 23%.
