NX7.0 Reuse Library

NX7.0 Reuse Library

I Have a question in regards to NX 7's Reuse Library feature. Is it Possible to add .prt files to your model through the reuse library without making it its own component, but add it to the model as part of an existing component?

I know this can be done by file -> import -> part, but i would perfer to use the reuse library if possible.

RE: NX7.0 Reuse Library

First, let's make sure that we talking Apples to Apples.  If you talking about a family table part, such as a bolt or a lock washer, NO there's no direct way to do that.  However, once a family member file has been created/loaded from the Reuse Library, there's nothing stopping you from then, as part of separate operation, doing a...

..into the current work part.

Now if we're talking instead about inserting some like a User Defined Feature or a 2D sketch, then yes, these can be inserted directly into a current part file without having to make it a component first.

We Currently have a custom library of standard details we frequently use in our designs by file -> import -> part method. However when you import a part it is more difficult to navigate through windows directories to find the part you are looking for than to simply use the reuse library. But the down side is that we do not Componentize each detail, we make groups of details into one component.

However I belive you have answered my question. Thank you, this is a very useful forum.

RE: NX7.0 Reuse Library

Have you tried to use a UDF (User Defined Feature) but just include ALL the features when you define it?
