Reuse Library, 2D sketch, possible to not create Intermediate CSYS?

Reuse Library, 2D sketch, possible to not create Intermediate CSYS?

(OP)
NX 7.5

Looks like the new 2D section functionality in the Reuse Library can be quite useful.  However, it looks like everytime I drop a sketch into a part, a new Intermediate Coordinate System is created.  I can't find a way to disable this behavior.  Is it possible to drop 2D sections from the Reuse library without creating Intermediate CSYS's?

Thank you.

RE: Reuse Library, 2D sketch, possible to not create Intermediate CSYS?

I think what you're calling an 'Intermediate Coordinate System' is actually a Datum CSYS, which is being created with each 2D section.  Technically there's no way to avoid it since they are needed for the 2D Section to exist.  However, there is a way to make them appear as if they don't exist.

You can either manually select the sketch in the Part Navigator, press MB3 and select the 'Make Datum Internal' option, which will merge them into the Sketch and remove them from the Navigator list (you can always go back and select the Sketch, press MB3 and select the 'Make Datums External' option if you would like to see them again).  This works similar to how sketches can be made Internal to the 'feature' that is created using the Sketch.

Now if you would like this to be the normal behavior, that the Datums are automatically made 'Internal', go to...

Preferences -> Modeling...

...and at the bottom of the dialog, toggle ON the 'Automatically Make Datums Internal to Child Sketches' option.  Now the Datum CSYS's will be merged automatically, but you can still make then External if you wish to later on.
