Hose estation on foam sprinkler cross-feed main?
Hose estation on foam sprinkler cross-feed main?
(OP)
Is it allowed (per NFPA 13) to connect a hose cabinet (hose station, class III) to a cross main or feed main of a foam sprinkler system that is feed by water foam solution (AFFF-3%)?.

The reason I am against this design is your probably protecting a high-challenge commodity and you want to utilize the foam-water solution to control the fire involving the hose stream. If its flammable liquids, the thermal flux will be so great the plant operator will run like a screaming child, drop and leave the nozzle open, and all of the foam lost through the hose nozzle will be lost. The sprinkler system is more effective in applying the foam/water solution.

Per local regulations we need both sprinklers and hose in the area.
We wanted to force him to get it from the water pipes, but it seems there is no point in the contract to make it, and I cannot find the issue on the NFPA.
The foam sprinklers are in a grid system, the hose is connected on one of the sides of the grid mains.
I was looking for something like an inconvenience on "stealing" water from the sprinkler on the middle of the grid, or something similar.
I agree with you I don´t like it.
