Loft Error

Loft Error

Loft Error

(OP)
I am trying to a relatively simple loft (or so I thought) but for some reason I am getting an error that I haven't seen before. The error is as follows, "Cannot Knit Sheets Together"

I read online a couple places that said this may be due to the fact that the profiles are too different and multiple (more than two) guide curves may need to be used. The profiles I'm dealing with don't really yield themselves very nicely to multiple guide curve because of the plane construction that would be involved. I was wondering if anyone is familiar with this error and could suggest a way to make this loft work or present a work-around.

I'm considering splitting the closed region into two more basic shapes and lofting them independently.

A screenshot is attached.

Suggestions?

Thank you,

RE: Loft Error

I found a solution using surface lofts.

By breaking the original profile into two separate loft portions I was able to create a nice guide curve from the edge of my first half of the loft.

If anyone can do loft like this without introducing surfaces left me know.

I attached a picture so you can see if you'd like.

RE: Loft Error

I don't mean to be rude, but images can be also saved as filename.jpg and upload and open much faster. Just a tip. :)

RE: Loft Error

...and since we spend all of this time learning to communicate our design intent via 3D geometry, lets communicate with 3D geometry.  Attach your file here.

If it is proprietary then simply make up a dummy file that exhibits the same behavior.

RE: Loft Error

I would try using a "Boundary Boss/Base".  Boundary features are newer and in most situations are superior to lofts.  You can also use additional connectors to aid in the geometry creation without the need for extra guide curves.  I hope this helps.

No I was just trying a different feature :)
