I'm currently working with an STL mesh generated from CT scans, and have programmed some automoation into SW to make 3D measurements easier.

However,  I cannot find a way to clip to areas within an STL triangle that I click on.  The points/lines/measure tool always clips to a vertex.

Right now I can manually make measurements between mesh locations that are not vertices by turning off clipping, but this is a hassle to ensure that the points fall on a mesh.

Is there any way to measure distances on a mesh, not necessarily vertices, and have the points clip to areas within an STL on the mesh?

It seems that another software package (materialise mimics) offers this feature (possibly using triangle vertex interpolation), but lacks the automation capabilities I'm looking for.
