Question on Volume calculation in NX

Question on Volume calculation in NX

Question on Volume calculation in NX

(OP)
Hi,

NX6..

When doing volume analysis on a part created from B surfaces, Iam observing there is a significant difference in volume calculation between a simple cube and the body created from B-Surfaces.. Does any one else have seen this kind of behavior? Does Siemen`s have some fix in NX6..

I have set the measurement preferences to highest level of decimal, so that it takes a significant amount of time to calculate the volumes.. Also there is no irregularities in surfaces..

Also when I split this body with is created using B surface, into multiple pieces and calculate volume of one piece multiplied by number of splits I have made, the difference increases..

Please help me understand the reason behind the difference..

RE: Question on Volume calculation in NX

You'd have to post your parts I imagine since I tried to duplicate what you described with no problems whatsoever.

I created a 100mm cube, extracted the faces and B-surfaces, removed parameters and then sewed the resulting sheets. I then checked the volume of each solid and found it exactly the same.

Best Regards

Hudson
