Floor Load for Raised slab for Hardware Store/Warehouse

Floor Load for Raised slab for Hardware Store/Warehouse

(OP)
I am designing a building for a new hardware store that will be two levels.  On the main level they will have storage racks, (they want to reuse the one they have-no ratings).  I am determining different cases on how the floor will be loaded.  Pallets of concrete on floor -250 psf, nails - 210 psf and then rack loading- 9000 # per post based on what they have now.  I am also looking at the wheel loads for their lift trucks.  Of course, the entire floor will not be loaded.

What have other people used for a floor loading?  Using a uniform loading of 250 psf everywhere seems excessive.

RE: Floor Load for Raised slab for Hardware Store/Warehouse

Well, Oddly enough, I have had an owner request a 250 psf live load for a elevated slab on steel framing for archiving/storage purposes.
I thought the steel framing was going to be ridiculous, but with using comp. deck and a fairly thick slab, it turned out reasonable.

DId you use composite deck with partially composite beams?

What were you spans?

RE: Floor Load for Raised slab for Hardware Store/Warehouse

No composite beams (although I would have preferred to).
The deck span was short...about 6'.
Composite deck was used only in the slab design.
Don't get me wrong, the thing was like a bunker, but the guy that pays the bills gets what he wants.

Check out a Vulcraft Decking Catalog...the tables are very useful.
