Skew Bridge in Hec_Ras

Skew Bridge in Hec_Ras

Skew Bridge in Hec_Ras

(OP)
I am modeling a bridge in Hec_Ras. When I skew the bridge and its cross-sections, it showed the error saying "Pier #1 is partially overlapped with left or right abutment on U/S and D/S side that the piers can't overlap with start or end of the bridge opening." Is this because, i used the skew option after placing the piers on the bridge? Or I should have skewed the deck and bridge cross-sections first and place the piers later as piers will be aligned in the direction of flow. Thanks.

RE: Skew Bridge in Hec_Ras

When you skew the bridge, it only changes the centerline station of the pier (upstream and downstream).

I guess you should skew first and then place the piers as you say they'll be aligned with the flow.

Thanks, I guess you are right. I did skew the bridge and the cross-sections only, and place the piers as they are aligned with flow.
