NX nastran freeses on 64 bit windows7

NX nastran freeses on 64 bit windows7

(OP)
Hello!
I ve been running some modal analyses on a 64 bit windows7 notebook. I have two models (~800 000 dof), one model is a bit smaller (less than 1%). Have no problems runnig both on the old 32-bit XP-machine. On the 64-bits the first (smaller) model analysis is completed only after 13 minutes, almost all the memory (8Gb) is used during the analysis.
The second analysis on a bigger model on 64-bit freeses on the eigenfrequency solution after sparce decomposition (uses 99% of memory & page file) and nothing happens for hours (I never get "ejgenfrequency extraction" in the NX-window).
I run all the default parameters on the NX Nastran v7.0 (including memory=estimate)
I tried to increase the page file from 8 GB to 15 GB - no result. The 32-bit with only 4GB RAM and 4GB page file however works fine for both models.
Any ideas what is causing the problem?
Thanks in advance!

RE: NX nastran freeses on 64 bit windows7

Dear Delta200,
Please send the models to GTAC for inspection, without having the FE models in hand is impossible to see what is wrong. If the model runs OK in xp-32bits, the same will do in the 64bits machine. Revise your nastran *.rcf file configuration, I suggest to use Buffsize=32769 if DOF > 400000.
Best regards,
Blas.
