We are planning to add alum for P removal into the splitter box upstream of two proposed clarifiers.  The pipe from the splitter box is presently proposed to be DIP. (The clarifiers have not been constructed yet.)  

Are there any corrosion concerns?  If we changed the DIP to PVC would there be structural concerns for the pipe as it runs underneath the clarifier?

DIP = Carbon steel with PTFE liner inside? If so, you will for sure not have any corrosion problem with DIP pipes and you will not have any with PVC pipes neither. Others might answer your question concerning structural concerns.

You will be adding a very small amount of alum. The alum will not significantly change the water chemistry (ie. the pH will not change). You should not expect any corrosion from alum.

Thanks.  What you said makes sense.  150 gpd of alum sounds like a lot, but not mixed in a million gallons.
