Assembly in NX5

Assembly in NX5

Assembly in NX5

(OP)
I am trying to add a component to an assembly and am getting the following error:
"All objects in the previewed part are on invisible layers for the currently selected reference set and layer options.  Consider changing the reference set or layer settings."  This particular component was created in sheet metal and the rest were created in modeling.  That is the only thing that I can think of but all of the layer settings are exactly the same.  Does anybody know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance,

Lurks

RE: Assembly in NX5

Is the component being added to a layer that is turned off in the assembly? Are there any reference sets in the assembly (ideally there should not be any in the assembly).

No, the layer settings are the same as that of the component.  There are also no reference sets in the assembly.

RE: Assembly in NX5

Did you create a Flat Solid in your Sheet Metal part?  (If so, did you move it to another layer so as to hide it?  When adding the Part to the assembly, make sure that you're adding the correct Reference Set since the Flat Solid will have one of it's own which the system created automatically.

RE: Assembly in NX5

Just add the thing and then turn on all the layers in the assembly check to see what has happened and you'll probably be able to figure it out for yourself from that point onward.
