MOC for TIO2 Pigment-FRP/CPVC
MOC for TIO2 Pigment-FRP/CPVC
(OP)
Hi
Need your feedback on MOC.
Currently we are using FRP epoxy pipes to transfer Titanium dioxide pigment from treatment tank to other equipment. we want to shift MOC of piping from FRP to CPVC?? Can you comment on new suggested MOC.The tank mainly contain TiO2 pigment and some fraction of Sand, Al2O3, NAOH, H20. As per Bechtel piping design classifications it is recommended in using both type of Materials for transferring TiO2.

The material is simply not rugged enough to withstand normal wear & tear -- banging, struck by, walk on.
Potential pipe breakage and personnel exposure to chemicals.

As to its suitability for abrasive slurry services, that's a matter of particle size, slurry % solids, temperature, pressure, expected service life etc. etc. For shorter-term projects we've had good success with it in fairly abrasive corrosive + erosive slurry services when properly designed .
Above about 4-6"NPS, CPVC becomes pretty spendy as well. In my experience FRP isn't of much use BELOW 4", and isn't available (or shouldn't be) below about 2".
