Steel deck crushing

Steel deck crushing

Steel deck crushing

(OP)
Need some help with my memory. A few years back I noticed a paper on crush capacity of steel deck with a heavy load applied directly above the deck support(steel beams). Now I can't find it, or a reference to it. At the time I was surprised at how strong the deck was when loaded like a series of short steel columns.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Haydenwse: could you repost your first attachment?  That one comes up blank when I click on it.  Hopefully it's not just me. Thanks!

RE: Steel deck crushing

Still no go.  It must be my computer/network.  Thanks anyhow haydenwse.

RE: Steel deck crushing

i've seen steel deck crush from the impact and not so much the load.  Particularly when a forklift drops a load of Welded-Wire-Fabric on the deck for labor to place.
