Group 7 slot car ground affect chassis
Group 7 slot car ground affect chassis
(OP)
Hi I am building a group 7 slot car in 3d plastic using laser sintering process
car looks like this http://sl otcarsfore ver.com/sl otcarimage s/1kofords lotcar.jpg
Does any one have suggestions for chassis design in regards to making this thing quicker by designing a better chassis with ground affects
Any help no matter how crazy it seems would be good.
pencil drawn designs on bar napkins totally acceptable drawing standards
Cheers from down under

RE: Group 7 slot car ground affect chassis
2) Make the body a smooth curve from front to back.
3) Make a slight curvature from the sides to the roof.
4) Just generally avoid hard points, or any angles beyond forty-five degrees.

A bunch of us got together and did the 'slot car' thing in the mid '60's. You would be surprised how much talent and engineering went into the effort. Even built our own little wind tunnel. Made our own vacuum molding frame and designed our own chassis along with rewinding our motors. As I look back, it was great fun for a bunch of 20 somethings...Got kinda crazy with Estes rocket powered drag cars.
One thing I do recall...Your not going to go fast enough (even the rocket cars) to make aero a big deal. All the chassis work, all the body designs looked cool and kept us busy. Sorry....It made no difference in lap times or ET's with or without the cool bodies we conceived.
