Bar Code Reader For Hazardous Area

Bar Code Reader For Hazardous Area

Looking for any help in finding an acceptable corded bar code reader for a Class II Div II area, I would like to read 1D and 2D codes. Searched the net and have not been able to find anything that is rated for this area.

Thanks

RE: Bar Code Reader For Hazardous Area

You say "corded", is that meaning hand-held then? Why not cordless?

The plant will not allow any RF transmitting devices or I would look at wireless. To answer your question I am looking at the hand held corded readers that I could plug into the USB port.

Sick Sensor Technologies makes an ATEX rated bar code scanner, the ICR840 - ATEX version.
It isn't really a hand held device per se, but is small enough to hold in one hand. You would have to locate the PC in a non-hazardous environment anyway, so the USB connection would be out, but a pass-through cord would work. It's the only one I know of.
