FEMA HEC-RAS/HEC-2 model request

FEMA HEC-RAS/HEC-2 model request

(OP)
Hi! I am trying to find out how to obtain the HEC-RAS or HEC-2 model developed for a specific stream though the FEMA Library. Looking at the FEMA Library data request form, I was not sure which data category my request should fit in. Anybody has experience with this? Thanks!

RE: FEMA HEC-RAS/HEC-2 model request

Category 1.

This will usually get you any HEC1/HMS or HEC2/RAS files that FEMA has.  Frequently, in my area, they do not have digital copies of older HEC-1 and 2 files and will send paper copies of the effective model; both input and output.  Hopefully you don't end up with something like that...

RE: FEMA HEC-RAS/HEC-2 model request

If you do get the older paper versions you can scan into OCR and edit.  This is much easier than retyping for large models.

Thanks froude and gbam. A guy in our office said he had some experience with acquiring FEMA models too and advised me to choose Category6. Since category6 data appear to be less expensive than category 1, I'll take his route first and let you guys know how it plays out.
