Ontario Building Code Pipe Freeze Protection

Ontario Building Code Pipe Freeze Protection

Ontario Building Code Pipe Freeze Protection

(OP)
Appendix A-7.3.5.4.(1) of the 1997 Ontario Building Code (can't seem to find the same section in the new edition) covers calculations on freeze protection for burried water and sewage pipes.  It notes FOAM INSULATION but does not state what material or R value it is supposed to be.

Does anyone have any more information on this?  Or another reference in the OBC or NBC?

It also notes that choosing the right backfill makes a big difference on how the frost penetrates the ground.  Any other references or experience to note?

Thanks
