Frequency Conversion 60 HZ to 50 HZ
Frequency Conversion 60 HZ to 50 HZ
(OP)
I have an A/C system that normally runs on 220V, 50 HZ, and the shore power feed is 208V, 60 HZ. Assuming that I will damage the equipment if I run it on 208V 60 HZ, is there an inexpensive solution to converting the frequency, or do I have to change all the components so they run on 60 HZ? Is it possible the systems will run on 60 HZ without damaging the components?

A common VFD between the shore power and the ship is not a good solution because you will likely try to start and stop motors connected to the output of the running VFD. This will cause premature failure of the VFD, despite claims by some people that with proper sizing it's possible. It can also cause random VFD trips which would cause ship power blackouts during the time it does work.
Solenoids or contactor coils would expect 264V at 60Hz to operate correctly.

If not then you can install both an inverter and a charger. Large inverters have gotten pretty reasonably priced. This would actually be a nice improvement to your Lagoon as it would allow just about any seaport operation. Look at Xantrex for chargers. They also have large inverters.
