I get a runtime error 91 when trying to create a part family . I have tried in Teamcenter and native to make sure I have write access for the spreadsheet. Is there a system variable which must be changed in the installation ?

NX5.0.4.1 MP6 RevJ

RE: Part Families

As long as Excel was already installed, the NX installation should have taken care of all that.  What version of MS Office are you running?

We run Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 service Pack 2 and Mircosoft Office Professional Edition 2003 version 11.0.7969.0

I have not contacted GTAC , I found this forum and thought I would seek a second opinion .

RE: Part Families

Running XP SP3 with NX5.0.6.3 and Office 2003 I have never had any problems.

Run UG in administrator login, then goto Part families and create family members. Then you can logoff and try in your own login, it works.

The reason for this is some dll files of ms excel need to be registered that require Administrator rights.

RE: Part Families

This is never an issue with our (Siemens) people since we are installing and deinstalling software all the time (versions of NX is nothing else), therefore most all of us run in 'administrator' mode by default (and yes, we've been warned that if we screw-up it's our own fault ;-)

RE: Part Families

We work in rather Restricted mode, we will not be having permission to do most of the activities, be it installing any demo software, adding system environment variables, uninstalling software, you can download only from selected websites, can not change screen resolution or desktop properties, can not change page file size if you are working with large assemblies, no access to ug installed directory (we struggled lot to change customer defaults while using NX2) and so on... :)

RE: Part Families

The only thing we have to worry about is when surfing the web, not getting the black screen with the note stating that you attempted to access an adress that is considered to contain 'inappropriate content' winky smile
