How was your switch FROM I-deas TO NX
How was your switch FROM I-deas TO NX
(OP)
I'd like to hear everyone's (horror?) stories about how they switched from I-deas to NX.
Example questions that i'm interested in:
Did you start from TDM?
How many I-deas users were there?
Did you go to TCII, and then content migration manager?
What version of I-deas and what version of NX?
How was the process?
Did you pay for/recieve any formal installation training? (Ohio?)
Thanks everyone for your responses!

RE: How was your switch FROM I-deas TO NX
I do however remember the 'bushy' history tree concept and working in one long linear tree of history seems a little odd to me.
We had around 30-40 people changing but did it on a project by project basis. So you finished one project off and then started the new one with an in-house training course.

Have you tried toggling OFF the 'Timestamp Order' setting in the the Part Navigator? I know it's not the same as the 'bushy' tree, but it does allow a better presentation of parent-child relationships between features.

I find to use it on its own you miss out on some appreciation of the order things are built up but it is really neat when you have multiple solids and you can work on each independently before joining them together.
I find NX a bit like Excel in that it is a hugely powerful tool and there are always little extra tips and features that you keep discovering.
My latest discoveries are the motion simulation and assembly sequencing tools ... I just wish our CAE guys would purchase more licenses for these additional features
My next learning point is to look at the tolerance build function!!!!
