Hello all, has anyone used abaqus 6.10? Is this an automatic update from Simulia or are there additional costs involved? I here it has a multiphyics platform which would be very useful, see new below:

RE: Abaqus 6.10

To my knowledge it has not shipped out yet.  There was a great deal of talk about it at SCC2010.  The biggest announcement was Abaqus/CFD.  It was described as a CFD program for the mechanical designer.  It looks to have all the capabilities that I would need for FSI.  It does not include high end CFD features such as mixing and Mach flow.  I assume that these features are in the near future though.

There is no additional cost!  CFD uses 5 tokens just like Standard and Explicit.  If you want to perform FSI then that would take 10 tokens (5 for standard or explicit and 5 for CFD).

Once 6.10 is released and I have had a chance to dabble I was planning on starting a thread for people to post their own dabbling.  So make something cooler than a reed in the wind :)

I hope this helps.

RE: Abaqus 6.10

It has been released - I have just installed my copy on my computers.  Haven't had any chance to dabble yet, though.

Make sure that you get an updated license file from Simulia before you try to install it - the installer won't proceed without the updated license file.
