Do bar hooks make up a rebar bundle?
Do bar hooks make up a rebar bundle?
(OP)
Is it considered a three bar bundle when a hook from an intersecting wall turns out on the same plane as the horizontal reinforcement at a splice location? Dose this apply to ties and U-bars? Where in ACI is this addressed?

RE: Do bar hooks make up a rebar bundle?
The horizontal splice will transfer the force in the horizontal bar that is lap spliced.
The hook on the perpendicular bar will help to develop that bar in tension (hopefully within the thickness of the wall into which it is hooking into).
RE: Do bar hooks make up a rebar bundle?
Does the hook being placed on top of the splice reduce the effective length of the splice?
