Cement grout properties for Rock Dowel in tunnel support

Cement grout properties for Rock Dowel in tunnel support

(OP)
hello all~

I have an question on the Cement grout properties for Rock Dowel in tunnel support.

As I know that is common practices that the hole was grouted before the installation of dowel. To doing that the grout have to be viscosity enough or otherwise the grout will flow out from the hole.

However, what is the general required properties for such grout? (I know flow cone only suitable for the highly fluid grout)

did anyone one can help me? thanks

If you are looking for resin type cartridges, msucog called it. If you want a cementious grout,  use a microsil grout mix with a W/C ratio of 0.4.

Spedel or Chemgrout make good pumps for this.

thanks for yout reply,

yes, actually, I am looking for the cementious grout.

As the hole will be fill up with grout before the installation of steel bar, I wonder how could be the grout properties have to be for such grout for the horizontal hole and the hole in the crown.

I could imagine, the grout have to be thick and viscous enough to avoid it flow out. However, too thick and viscous grout may cause the trap of air in the hole which could result in the poor grout quality.

As such, I want to know what properties have to be check for the suitable grout?

will flow cone still be use?? (if the grout can pass the flow cone tesy, it will flow out from the hole, isn't it )

How anyone one here can provide me more information on it.

Thanks!!!

i dont remember exactly, but i'm 90% sure the contractor used a cement cartridge on my tunnel project. i will try to see if i have any info on it...i no longer work for that company so it's likely i do not have that info handy.

Thanks msucog, I am looking forward for your further information.

However, it doesn't really matter if you can't really find it. :)
