Hi guys,

I am new electrical engineer.Having a HSFT to buy a High Speed Fast Transfer Switch for 6,6kV system to switch power from main source(from EHV grid) to an emergency infeed (from 11kV grid),I would like to know what are the suppliers that can provide this kind of equipments and what is diferents modes of transfer possible ?

Thanks for advance,

Google it.

RE: URGENT : Automatic transfer switch

Just because something is URGENT to you, it ain't URGENT to us unless you're paying premium time. And right now you ain't paying anything... so have some manners and don't put URGENT in the thread title. Imagine what a mess the forum would be if everyone did it. wink

You might have a look at Beckwith Electric's website.  I believe that they have some technical papers on issues related to fast bus transfers that you might find helpful.

Also, no one is going to be able to help with suppliers if you can't be bothered to tell us where in the world the equipment will be installed.

How did this become an emergency or urgent? If you are new ask your seniors first. If you want to look smart in front of your seniors or employer, call up a few equipment suppliers in your area or the country!

Hi guys,

Thank you dpc for the information.
This relay will be isntalled in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabes.

RE: URGENT : Automatic transfer switch

Siemens also have a couple of tech notes on FBT schemes. The information contained is similar in both.

If I recall correctly ABB have an FBT relay available too.

RE: URGENT : Automatic transfer switch

Get a quotation from ABB (or Siemens, or others) but first you have to write the spec so that they could do so.

On the 17KV side there is probably a generator that you have not shown. This is a typical station service transfer scheme for the 6.6 Kv auxiliaries it would appear. When the generator has tripped or is not in service a fast transfer has to take place so as to avoid any interruption to the auxilairies supplies. A common type of equipment in thermal stations.

Several cubicles of control equipment not including the switchgear itself. High Six-figure price level. The above suppliers have done this many times before, I have commissioned a couple of these.

Everything is Urgent in Saudi, get used to it.
